Importance of Education and Learning how to learn

With the beginning of the year, it’s a good time to talk about Study skills and opportunities that are there for students and unemployed youth. The topic for the month of Feb is Importance of Education and Learning how to learn, and we had a guest from the Gauteng department of Education.

Jolene Pinto is from the Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) which is a branch of the Gauteng Department of Education responsible for promoting skills development in the Gauteng City Region. The GCRA achieves skills development through the facilitation and coordination of bursaries, career guidance programmes, learnerships and internships to ensure that the youth of Gauteng is employable.

Jolene presented about the opportunities available after matric and bursaries offered by the Gauteng department. Giants learned more about Technical and Vocational Education and Training(TVET) colleges.

Giants Presented on the following topics:

1. How to Improve Memory

Walk before an exam It’s been proven that exercise can boost your memory and brain power. 20 minutes exercise before an exam can improve performance.

2. Study skills and Study Techniques

Ways of taking in new information, retaining information study skills include mnemonics, which aid the retention of lists of information, effective reading, concentration techniques, and efficient note-taking.

3. Different study Methods for different personalities

Trying out different study methods is essential, but that process often means lots of wasted time. Rather using trial and error, why not evaluate your personality to unlock the information you need to study more effectively.

We would like to thank our guest Jolene pinto and the Giants on the presentation. Our next meeting is on the 16 March 2019 and the topic is “Career Expo” SEE YOU THERE!!!!
