Overview

The RGO Governance Masterclass will empower attendees with practical tools and insights on governance, accountability, compliance, tax, and fundraising, delivered by leading practitioners and board members with advanced expertise. The masterclass also serves as a fundraising platform to support RGO’s mission of raising giants for community change. Attendees will leave with valuable knowledge, new connections, an RGO journal, novelty gifts, and the inspiration to drive sustainable change.

This masterclass is designed for Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs), NGOs, Trusts, Foundations, CSI practitioners, community builders, and businesses looking to strengthen their social impact initiatives. It is also ideal for individuals seeking to start an NPO and those working on community upliftment projects.

The RGO Governance Masterclass will unpack four key focus areas, presented by the Raising Giants Organisation (RGO) Board, which includes leading practitioners and candidates with advanced qualifications in governance, development, and related fields.

  1. Tax and Non-Profit Organisations
  2. This session will cover the tax obligations and benefits specific to NPOs and NGOs, including compliance with SARS, Section 18A certificates, and how tax exemptions can help organisations maximise their resources. Attendees will learn practical ways to structure their organisations to remain tax compliant while making the most of available financial advantages.

  3. The Raising Giants Story (RGO Journey)
  4. RGO will share its own journey, highlighting challenges, lessons, and successes in building an impactful non-profit. This story will serve as both an inspiration and a practical roadmap for other organisations and individuals looking to establish or strengthen their community initiatives.

  5. Governance, Accountability, and Compliance
  6. A deep dive into the legal and governance requirements for NPOs and NGOs, including board responsibilities, registration processes, reporting standards, and donor transparency. This session will equip attendees with the tools to ensure their organisations remain credible, ethical, and sustainable in the long run.

  7. Fundraising Strategies and Community Partnerships
  8. This final session will explore effective fundraising models, CSI partnerships, and collaborative community projects. Attendees will gain insight into building strong relationships with businesses, sponsors, and other stakeholders, ensuring long-term sustainability and measurable community impact.
